What is Life Coaching and Counselling/Psychotherapy?

Life/Business Coaching is a profession that is different but similar from consulting, mentoring, therapy, or counselling. The life/business coaching process addresses specific personal projects, business successes, general conditions and transitions in the client's personal/professional life, relationships by examining what is going on right now, discovering what your obstacles or challenges might be, and choosing a course of action to make your life be what you want it to be. The main difference from Life/Business Coaching to Counselling is that the focus is on your thoughts rather than feelings. The similarity is in order to be successful there needs to be  a trusting relationship between us.

Life/Business Coaching helps you to challenge your thinking patterns so that you are easily able to identify thoughts  that are possibly constructed through others (family, friends etc.) or from past life experiences. This process helps you to re-learn for yourself what is best for you. The process of Life/Business Coaching is all about YOU and what YOU wish to achieve in your life. As a life/business coach, I will assist you on your journey in self-discovery, acknowledging and verbalising your strengths and challenge any thoughts that could possibly get in the way of YOU achieving your goals. I will not tell you what to do and will not impart my own agenda, I will accept and support YOU to feel better about yourself but I do offer you honesty (in a loving way) to assist you in moving forward. The focus is on positive change: stating this is where I am now, what do I want next?

Counselling and Psychotherapy move's in focus, the relational contact with me is more focused on what communication mode best suits you, the one you feel the safest to communicate in. This could be more with your thoughts, your emotion or your intuition. Counselling and Psychotherapy presents an opportunity to explore all of your emotion, thoughts and intuition within whatever life experience you feel stuck in, whether that be past or present experiences. Through this medium, a process  develops which offers time and insight, a deeper personal/professional level of understanding in order to accept and let go of past or present emotional and cognitive inner/outer conflict. Leaving you feeling freer, happier and at peace internally and externally, allowing you to move to grow and change to become the person you want to be.

I perceive that I can live in my own world at times (what I call the inner world) or the world around me (the outer world), the world meaning everything (people, experiences, material things etc.). In my inner world, I have more control of what I show people or how I interact with them, how I think and feel about myself. However, in my past, this was more controlled by my past and present experiences of the world until I became more aware of me and gained more understanding into how I REALLY thought and felt about the past and present experiences. I say REALLY because as a child I acknowledge that I was influenced by my environment and I took on other people’s thoughts and feelings as my own as I did not know or experience how to sit with me or reflect upon my experiences to understand my thoughts and feelings. I acknowledge that this is a process and the more I am able to understand me the more control and understanding I have to move and become free from painful experiences and negative thoughts, I am able to grow and change. Through this awareness my relationships have changed I am more honest, more accepting, more open to showing everybody the real me.

I have managed to do this through interacting with people who are also in this process Counsellors/Psychotherapists. This is because we (not all) have and are able to acknowledge and gain personal understanding of our own emotional and cognitive inner/outer conflicts, our personal judgements and accept these in order to let go of them (what we are feeling and thinking), or sometimes we distill ourselves, where we are self-aware in the here and now and of our judgements, therefore we have control over them, in order not to project or influence ourselves (thoughts and feelings) onto others.

Through this process, I am able to hold my needs in order to meet yours which gives you the opportunity to explore whatever part of your life you wish to. I am able to empathise with your emotions and thoughts, experiencing and empathising with your life in order for you to be fully seen and accepted in whatever experience you wish to explore. Through my interactions, I offer a safe and secure attachment for you to express and show yourself, therefore, allowing you the opportunity to experience acceptance and genuineness from me. I believe through this process you will gain more self-awareness into your thoughts, feelings or intuition or all three. Therefore giving you an opportunity to change, heal or both.
